Lockdown check-list: Progress – Tracker
This blog is a follow up to one of my previous posts, where I mentioned 10 Ideas to kick away boredom during lockdown.
The check-list is not something I want you to stick to. No force! You can have your own list depending on your goals and priorities. But, if you don’t have one or don’t know where to start, here’s my list of ideas. (No more excuses!)
Before I can ask how far you’ve progressed in the last 50 days, I want to do a reality self-check as to how far I’ve come. Let’s jump in and see my progress. Don’t you think I should practice before I preach? I promise, I’m going to be honest.
1. DEEP CLEAN YOUR HOUSE
I admit – I didn’t deep clean every part of the house. But, the little that I did, mostly with my husband’s help, kept getting messed up over and over again. You can imagine how the kitchen looks with constant cooking and new cuisine trials, the washrooms with the regular usage, the living room with a toddler around. It’s tiring!
If you feel the same, thank God I’m not alone.
The only place which remained clean with a single wash is the windows and window-meshes. No constructions, no pollution – Thanks to lockdown.
2. CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET
Hurray! I did this, and it took longer than I expected because I did it the right way. Wondering what’s the right way? Go ahead and read the next point.
3. IRON YOUR CLOTHES
Yay! Another mission accomplished.
All our clothes (husband’s, baby’s and mine) neatly pressed and stacked, with no idea of when they’ll get to breathe in some fresh air again. Thanks to lockdown – no more ironing clothes for a long time.
4. DRESS UP AND ENJOY A DATE NIGHT
Achieved half of this, if you consider half as an achievement. Lol.
We all (three) dressed up for Easter, clicked some pictures and sent greetings to family and friends.
Even though we sit and eat every meal together at the dining table, it can’t be counted as date night. A date night has to be something out of the routine.
5. COOK YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL
Hot soupy maggi with double masala, and pickles have been my lock-down favorites. No, I’m not trying to escape. We ate more chicken and mutton than compared to non-lockdown months. See the next point for proof. 😛
Anything spicy is my favorite now. So, we’ve been trying our hands at a lot of new dishes.
6. TRY A NEW DISH
Not just one, two or three. We’ve been on a cooking spree, trying our hands on everything we can think of.
Regular vs. Lockdown usage of cooking oil – 1:5 litre per month
This should give you an insight into our cooking spree! Lol.
I tried my hands at cooking these cuisines for the first time and the results were amazing – stuffed brinjal, egg fried rice, soft chicken noodles with chilli garlic chicken gravy, chilli chicken fry, lemon coriander soup, chicken biryani with mirchi ka salan. Here are some of the pictures for you, cuz I don’t want you to miss the restaurants anymore.
My husband’s culinary skills reached the skies with his love for baking and cooking beyond the normal trend.
He baked chocolate walnut cake, banana bread and chicken salami pizza.
Since it’s Haleem season and we’ve been missing out on it, he cooked Haleem at home. Then, he tried varieties of egg curry and chicken curry. His snacks included onion pakoda, aloo bajji, egg bonda and veg cutlets. The Arabian Mandi was yet another show – you’d faint at the pictures. They were all delicious.
7. TAKE UP A DIY PROJECT
You can find my DIY mask project here.
As usual I indulge myself in DIY craft projects. This ever burning passion for string art made me open my Etsy shop. Yay! Achieved an extra mile.
8. GIVE YOURSELF A LONG REFRESHING PEDICURE
Even though I didn’t give myself a long pedicure, I keep soaking and scrubbing once in a while.
9. DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR
I used a banana hair mask once (just because our fruit bowl was stacked with ripened bananas). So, check-check GREEN.
10. APPLY A NATURAL FACE MASK
I’m too lazy to follow beauty tips. So, if I gave myself a pedicure and conditioned my hair once, I already did a lot. Excuse me, until I find time to check this button.
With the lockdown extended, stop procrastinating and start working towards your goals.
I’ll keep updating my list here, when I finish another task.
And you can keep me posted on your progress in the comments below. I want to be encouraged too.
